If you follow my blog or YouTube channel, you’re probably familiar with Mark from the UK and his ongoing DIY hot tub project. It’s been an incredible journey spanning over two years, and I’ve been sharing updates with you as the build has progressed.
As 2024 comes to a close, Mark set himself a bold goal: to complete the hot tub in time for Christmas. This was no small feat, considering the requirements of the project and the challenges that come with managing such an ambitious timeline. Plus it’s all alongside a full-time job. The question on everyone’s mind is—did he manage to meet the deadline?

Last Progress
Let’s rewind to the last update. At that point, Mark had completed the main structure of the hot tub. However, significant work still remained. The plumbing system needed to be installed. The tub itself required finishing touches, and the surrounding areas were still incomplete. With the clock ticking, Mark took advantage of some much-needed time off from his day job. He rolled up his sleeves and put in extra hours to make as much progress as possible.
Fast forward to today, and the results are impressive. As you can see from the images below, Mark has made incredible headway. The intricate tiling work is complete, and the grout has been applied. This brings the tub one big step closer to completion. The plumbing system—often one of the most complex parts of such a build—is also fully installed and operational. Additionally, Mark has completed the control room, which houses the all the vital systems needed for a DIY hot tub.
Mark didn’t stop there. He’s also started on the cladding for the exterior walls. This has added a stylish and durable finish to the structure. This cladding not only enhances the overall aesthetic but also provides essential protection from the elements. This will ensure the hot tub can be enjoyed for years to come.
The Big DIY Hot Tub Reveal
Now, the big reveal: was the hot tub ready for Christmas 2024? Drumroll… sadly, no. Despite his best efforts and a flurry of activity in the final weeks, Mark wasn’t able to finish the project. On December 23rd, he sent me a message explaining that other priorities had required his attention. Pulling him away from the build at the completion stage.
As of the latest update, the hot tub is close to completion but still requires a few finishing touches. The cladding needs to be finished. Plus, there are a handful of smaller details left to address before the project can truly be called complete. While it’s not the Christmas finish we all hoped for, the progress Mark has made is nothing short of remarkable. Plus, he’s very close to crossing the finish line.
For now, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see the grand unveiling of Mark’s DIY hot tub in all its glory. I’ll continue to share updates as they come, so stay tuned for more on this inspiring journey. One thing’s for sure—when the project is finally done, it will be worth every ounce of effort Mark has poured into it.
