Etienne’s Infinity Hot Tub Project: From Concept to Build

Infinity Hot Tub Build

Etienne reached out to me via email with a vision and a plan for building an infinity hot tub. It was clear from his message that he had a solid idea of what he wanted but needed my expertise to bring it to life. I was excited to help turn his dream into reality.

Planning Stage

The initial step was to analyse the plan and the location. Etienne provided me with a rough sketch and a picture of the location where the hot tub would be installed. You can see these below.

These two pictures gave me a good enough idea of what Etienne was looking to build. It was now my turn to take these initial ideas and transform them into a detailed design.

This part of my job involves taking a closer look at all the practicalities and making sure they come together well.

The Design

Based on Etienne’s sketch and the site image, I put together a custom design for his infinity hot tub. The design leverages the natural height difference at the location to create the infinity effect.

One major component of the build involves breaking down part of the existing wall and rebuilding it as a reinforced structure. This wall will blend seamlessly into the landscape, appearing as though it had always been part of the original design.

Plumbing Stage

With the design finalised, the next step was to focus on the plumbing system. I created a detailed plumbing diagram for Etienne, ensuring that all necessary elements were accounted for. This diagram was essential not only for the construction but also for securing permits and working with any contractors involved.

These plans were part of the design package that Etienne purchased, and they’re invaluable if you’re applying for permits or need them for contractor coordination. If you ever need similar plans or designs for your project, I’m happy to assist.

Supplying the Parts

Once the plumbing design was complete, it was time to supply the parts. Etienne chose to purchase his hot tub parts through me too, and I made sure to get everything delivered promptly.

For those of you who may be planning a similar project and need parts or guidance on which ones to choose, feel free to reach out to me for advice or assistance. I offer a range of high-quality parts that will suit your needs.

The Build

With the design and parts in place, Etienne began the building phase. The first step was to prepare the base for the hot tub. It’s crucial to install bottom drains before pouring the concrete base. Missing this step could lead to complications down the road.

Next came the interior formwork. Etienne started from the inside out, setting up the interior shuttering before moving on to the rebar structure. This steel reinforcement will ensure the hot tub has lasting stability and strength.

One of the most important tasks at this stage is completing the plumbing before pouring the walls. Once the plumbing is in place, the walls will be poured, and the project will move one step closer to completion.

Current Progress

At the moment, Etienne is wrapping up the plumbing installation. I’ll keep you updated as the project progresses and the next stages are completed. Stay tuned for the final reveal of Etienne’s infinity hot tub—it’s going to be a fantastic addition to his space!

If you’re considering a similar project and need guidance or parts, feel free to contact me. I’m here to help bring your hot tub dreams to life, just as I’m doing for Etienne.

Hi, Andi here. I own Buildahottub.com and also write all of the articles and info pages on the site. Some years back now, I built my own hot tub but struggled to find the information I needed. So, once my tub was complete, I started this website to help others in their own pursuit of hot tub and plunge pools DIY building information.

Today, I've helped over 1000 DIY customers just like you all over the world build hot tubs and pools. Have a good look around the site, there are lots of resources here. Please do get in touch if I can help you. - Cheers, Andi
